Munich International School Munich International School (MIS) was founded in 1966 on a 26-acre site near Lake Starnberg and is about 25 kilometers southwest of Munich. As an exemplary English-language IB World School, MIS inspires students to be inter-culturally aware and achieve their potential within a stimulating and caring learning environment. With an enrollment of about 1,200 students from more than 45 countries, MIS is the largest international school in Bavaria. Accommodating students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade, MIS is a private school with a curriculum rooted in the International Baccalaureate framework for education. As an IB World School, MIS is authorized to develop and deliver courses within the framework of the IB Primary Years Program, the IB Middle Years Program and the IB Diploma Program..

The language of instruction is English, with German, French and Spanish taught as foreign languages. Furthermore, comprehensive instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL) is offered to serve students who come to MIS with limited knowledge of English.

School facilities are modern, comfortable and well-equipped. Students benefit from extensive sports facilities, auditoriums, libraries, spacious science labs and art and music rooms. There is state-of-the-art computer equipment throughout the school, as well as a performing arts center which seats up to 500 people. The school offers a full slate of extracurricular activities. Annual tuition fees range between 14,000 and 17,000 euros, contingent upon which grade your child is entering. Moreover, there is an entrance fee for new students of 5,500 euros in the first year and 3,000 euros in the second and third years. For an additional fee, annual bus transportation is available for families residing in most areas around Munich. MIS is approved by the government of Bavaria and fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and by the European Council of International Schools.
