Phorms Bilingual Grundschule Munich

Established in 2007, the Phorms School in Munich is a bilingual all-day primary school for children from grades one through five. There is also a nursery school program and class six will be added in 2009/10. The first Phorms school was launched under private management in Berlin in 2006, with others later opening in Frankfurt, Cologne, Hamburg and Hanover. In the primary school, there are English and native German teachers and teaching assistants in the classroom, and the language of instruction is about 70% in English. In the secondary school, the language of instruction changes according to the subject and the balance is about 50-50. The curriculum, which meets the requirements of the state of Bavaria, is supported by the Cambridge International Primary Years program (CIPYP). Tuition varies according to family income, ranging between 68 euros and 1,035 euros per month. There are additional fees for meals, after-school care as well as a one-time registration payment.

Phorms also has a Gymnasium. It opened September 2008 with two classes of 5th grade. It follows the Bavarian requirements in all subjects, but has an international and holistic view of education. The philosophy is the same as the Grundschule. Also sliding scale on tuitions.
