The Regensburg International School (RIS) starts operation in August 2009 for children in grades one to four. The campus is located in Großberg - about 10 minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage city of Regensburg. RIS plans to offer the Primary Years Program from the International Baccalaureate Organisation, and has applied to be an IB candidate school. Depending on demand, RIS plans to offer classes up to grade 12. RIS was launched with the assistance of the Bavarian International School located outside of Munich. The school was initiated by the city of Regensburg, the administrative district of Regensburg, the Regensburg Chamber of Commerce, nearby international companies and two local universities. The annual tuition fee is 9,000 euros. There is also an annual capital development fee of 1,000 euros (to be paid over the first three years) and a registration fee of 350 euros. Tuition reductions are available for families with a lower income.

Here is a school that starts September 2008 and is approved for both Bavarian and IB diplomas. It has a great educational philosophy and won't break the pocketbook.
