Following 10 years in Herzogenaurach and after 16 months of construction, the Franconian International School (FIS) opened its own purpose-built campus in the Roethelheimpark area of Erlangen in August 2008. This private IB school began with 25 students but now has a student body of over 400, representing more than 30 nationalities. Students graduating from FIS are awarded the FIS Diploma and, if successful, the International Baccalaureate Diploma. The new campus offers well-furnished classrooms, modern science labs, state-of-the-art computer labs, excellent music and art facilities as well as a library. The school boasts extracurricular activities in both sports and the arts. There is an annual registration fee of 300 euros plus an annual capital development fee of 4,000 euros for the first year, and 800 euros for each year thereafter. Tuition for the kindergarten is 8,200 euros annually. Tuition for pupils beyond this stage is between 10,140 euros and 13,290 euros, depending on year of study. Financial aid, loyalty bonuses and various payment options are also available.
