No matter how long you intend to stay in Germany, temporary housing or serviced apartments are options worth exploring. For those expats planning to stay for a few months or a few weeks, serviced apartments allow for comfortable living without the impersonality of a hotel.
And if you have just arrived but are looking for a permanent long-term home, serviced apartments allow you to feel immediately at ease during what can often be a difficult transition period. There is a wide range of temporary housing options - from furnished apartments to private apartments rented out through an agency. Renting a private apartment or house for a trade fair, business trip or private visit is a low-cost alternative to a hotel. Here is a list of companies that offer temporary housing in Frankfurt.

Hi,
I am moving to Germany permanently in July. Renting an aprtment seems exorbitant re agency fees, deposits etc. Maybe a serviced apartment would be a viable alternative for me? What fees would I be required to pay up front, and monthly how much would the rent be on average for a one bedroom aprtment?
The minimum you would have to pay for a one room furnished flat (studio) in Franfurt city would be about 500 euros...but that would be pretty basic and not likely in a good location.
If you wanted to be in a good neighborhood (Westend, Sachsenhausen, etc...) expect to pay double that.
Usually you are expected 2-3 months rent upfront as a deposit.

Dear Russel, What I can suggest as this has been done by others before as well, they rent a room from me, I live in Eschborn, 5 stops from Main station then they are not in a hurry to find just anything but can arrange it in their own time. There are so many different offers out there and once you have signed , its not easy to break the contract.
My rent is nominal E420.-- warm per month , for a nice room , landing with table and chairs, TV, share Kitchen and wash possibilities in the cellar. My house is also a hot spot so you can use your Computer from your room. Everything is there ,you just move in...
