In tourist central, the Binding Schirn is quirky in that it is not a tourist trap. I can't really explain to you what sort of category it fits into. Looking for a quick pint after walking along the river me and some friends stopped in for a peek. It is very traditional-looking on the outside and we were expecting the standard apfelwein / beerhall type atmosphere. Instead we were greeted with an hour of the Bee Gee's followed by Blondie and a curious mix of faux wood paneling and neon lights. Still despite its eccentricity we did enjoy our pints and had a good laugh with the bar staff. A special tip would be to hold on to the handrail for dear life when navigating the spiral staircase down to the toilets...a few of the steps give you the impression that they may have survived the war... |
