I've been to this place a few times now and it has had a remarkably different atmosphere each time. Very kitsch decor gives it a homely feeling. There are little statues and photos and posters and foreign money stuck everywhere, including the ceiling. On first visit i thought it was going to be a seedy little boozer, but it carries with it a sort of overwhelming charm. Upon receiving complimentary peanuts complete with shells (Monkey Nuts in the UK), we went to put the shells in the ash tray and were quickly corrected and told to throw them on the floor. A trip to the toilets shows you that this is, and always will be, the custom here. Helpful bar staff when you are friendly - you may even get a free shot or two of the owners special cherry concoction - however they will not put up with any nonsense. Well worth a visit! |
