The European School Karlsruhe is one of the 14 official schools across Europe jointly administered by the European Union. This school was built primarily for the children of employees of the European Joint Research Center near Karlsruhe but also from the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The school has about 950 students and offers three language sections (German, English and French) from kindergarten to grade 12. Graduates earn the European Baccalaureate degree, which allows them to study at universities in any EU country and is also recognized around the world. Children whose parents work for an EU institution pay no tuition, while others (so-called Category II or III) pay tuition which varies according to the category and the school level (Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary). The school also has contracts with companies in the region to offer spaces for employee's children. For parents who are not part of the EU community, it is very difficult - if not impossible - to enroll their child in the English or German track of this school. Consult the website for more details.
