Mozartsommer National Theater Mannheim

As a theater and opera company, the National Theater Mannheim can look back on a long and illustrious history. Initially founded in 1779, the NTM is considered the world's oldest municipal theater. And in 1782 Friedrich Schiller's first major drama, The Robbers (Die Räuber), was premiered in presence of the playwright himself. Today, the NTM consists of an 1,200-seat opera house, an 800-seat theater for chamber music and drama, and a youth and children's theater. The NTM presents the annual Mozart Summer Festival as well as the International Schiller Festival.
