Die Zaunkönige Kindertagesstätte
This nonprofit parent initiative was launched in 2003 and offers kindergarten and/or day care for children between the ages of four months and 10 years. Located in Düsseldorf Pempelfort, the Zaunkönige offers a bilingual education program in which each group also has a native speaker who works directly with the children. The cost per month is about 150 euros, in addition to the normal kindergarten fees required by the city of Düsseldorf (which range from 0 to 400 euros, depending on income). The Zaunkönige is open from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm.

Kindergarten Everest
Kindergarten Everest Kindergarten Everest is a bilingual school for children from the ages of four months to six years. Opened in 2006, the school is part of a network of 170 private Catholic schools worldwide focusing on personal, individual attention in a values-based learning environment. The school offers half-day (until 12:30 pm) and full-day (until 5:30 pm) programs. An extended supervisory period is available for working parents, beginning at 7:00 am and lasting past closing until 6:30 pm. Tuition ranges from 380 euros to 1,450 euros per month, depending on the age of the child and the number of days per week spent at the school. Parents with children under three years of age will pay more.

Bears & Books International Kindergarten

Located in the city of Meerbusch, west of Düsseldorf, Bears & Books is a private, fully licensed kindergarten and preschool for children from the ages of three to six years. Bears & Books aims to provide a broad curriculum emphasizing pre-reading and writing skills, arts and crafts, dance and movement and, of course, English language acquisition. The school day starts at 8:30 am and ends at 2:00 pm. Bears & Books is a member of the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI).

Vincerola International Montessori Day Nursery Vincerola Day Nursery
Vincerola is a private, English-speaking, full-day nursery which uses Montessori methods to care for children from six months to school age. The nursery is open from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm year round, with the exception of a two-week summer break and a one-week Christmas and New Year break. The preschool curriculum emphasizes communication, mathematics, language/literacy and social development. Currently, there are two Vincerola nurseries in Cologne and one in Aachen.

Cologne Bumblebees e.V. Bumblebees
Cologne Bumblebees is a private, parent-initiated kindergarten for children from the ages of two to six years. The full-day kindergarten emphasizes language acquisition though immersion, with one caretaker always speaking English and another always speaking German. Bumblebees is open from 7:30 am until 5:30 pm, with future plans to remain open until 6 pm. Located in Cologne's city center, Bumblebees offers a garden for outdoor activities and is recognized by the German Department of Youth and Family Services.

Initiated by parents, this bilingual, nonprofit kindergarten and day care center for children between the ages of one and 10 years offers a nontraditional type of schooling. An environmentally-aware creative concept that encourages a toy-reduced, situation-oriented environment for children is the cornerstone of the organization. Located near the Rhine River in a suburb of Leverkusen, the school offers a comprehensive education program that includes all subjects, yet simultaneously seeks to nurture a child's nature consciousness.

Our Featured Event

The 2019 Newcomers Festival will be held on Sunday 8 Sept. at Frankfurt’s City Hall (Römer). This annual event attracts over 5,000 international visitors, up to 60 exhibitors (companies, clubs, organizations).
