Situated on the banks of the Rhine River in a new, state-of-the-art facility, the Bonn International School (BIS) is a private English-language day school currently hosting more than 600 students aged three to 19 years from some 60 countries. The school offers the complete curriculum of the International Baccalaureate Program: the Primary Years Program (ages 3-11), the Middle Years Program (ages 11-16) and IB Diploma Program (ages 16-19). The Early Learning section is part of the Primary Years Program and accommodates children from the ages of three to five years in both half-day and full-day programs.
Students for whom English is a second language can receive extra help through the school's intensive ESL program. Students receive a diploma after successfully completing the Primary and Middle Years programs, which allows for continuity of curriculum in the event of a move to another region or school. German is offered to all students from the Early Learning level through Grade 12 at both the mother tongue and foreign language levels.
Extra-curricular activities offered involve sports, music, languages and the Model United Nations. The school has modern sport facilities, as well as 170 computers spread throughout the facility, which enjoys wireless internet access. Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 22 students.
