Cologne International School

Opened in August 2007, the Cologne International School (also known as the Cologne International Peace School) currently has more than 200 students. In the primary school (grade 1-4) students are in mixed age classes, and lessons are bilingual with two teachers - one German and one native English. The school follows the IBO Primary Years Programme (PYP) and is a candidate IB World School, but also follows the curriculum for the state of North Rhein Westphalia. At grade 4 children can go either to the bilingual Gymnasium or the international secondary school. Eventually, the school plans to offer the German Abitur, the IB diploma in the bilingual gymnasium, and the IB diploma in the international school. Tuition fees are 12,000 euros annually for the primary school and up to 14,000 per year for Gymnasium and International Secondary School.
