Cologne International School

The Cologne International School (CIS), also known as the Internationale Friedensschule Köln, is a private, full-day school that opened in 2007. In the primary school (grades 1-4), lessons are bilingual, and the curriculum follows not only the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, but also the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP). After grade 4, children can go to either the bilingual Gymnasium (college preparatory secondary school based on the German education system) or to the international secondary school. CIS offers the German Abitur, the highest level of high school diploma obtainable within the German education system, and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in the bilingual Gymnasium, and the IB Diploma in the international secondary school. Tuition fees are 12,000 euros annually for the primary school and up to 14,000 euros per year for Gymnasium and the international secondary school.
